Sony Sports Network acquired the media rights for the live broadcast of the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2024. Reportedly, the Hockey tournament will take place in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China from September 8 to September 17, 2024. It is claimed in the report that, fans can enjoy the broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network and Sony Liv.
As per the report, the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has confirmed the participation of top six teams from the continent. From what it is understood, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, China, and Malaysia will participate on this tournament. The sports network claimed, this tournament will be broadcast across India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. “As the official broadcaster of the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024, we will bring this tournament to hockey fans across the region. Audiences will get to watch Team India, the defending champions and Olympic Bronze medal winners playing for the first time since the Olympic Games Paris 2024. We are committed to serving hockey fans and delivering high-quality coverage that showcases the talent and competitive spirit of the best teams in Asia on Sony Sports Network, ” Rajesh Kaul, chief revenue officer, distribution and international business and head-sports business, Sony Pictures Networks India, said.
Reportedly, the opening day will feature all six teams competing in a single pool format. On the opening day, South Korea will face Japan, followed by Malaysia face Pakistan and the day will be concluded with India facing the hosts China. It is claimed in the report that, arch rivals India and Pakistan will face each others on September, 14 .
