Reliance Jio has seemingly been in trend since the longest of times due to their constant campaigns and pricing strategies, reportedly, ticking the affordability off the list. With the telecom subscriber base in India crossing the 1.2 billion user mark for the second time, the telecom regulator Trai revealed that Reliance Jio has been leading the chart in terms of new additions and the total customer base.

As per Trai’s monthly subscriber report, the total telecom subscriber base was reported to be 940.75 million as of 30 June 2024 with a 0.60% increase from the 935.13 million as of 31 May 2024. Furthermore, it was also found from the report that Reliance Jio has a consolidated 488.94 million subscriber base with a 51.97% market share of broadband service providers.

Earlier this year, Jio also announced an increase in mobile tariff with as much as a 22% increase in all the subscription plans under its mobile segment. This move brought the company’s subscription pay schemes on par with its competitors. As far as wireline subscribers are concerned, 37.59% of the share is controlled by Jio whereas 40.71% of the wireless subscribers come under Jio.

Last year, Reliance launched Jio AirFiber, a wireless internet service designed to address last-mile connectivity challenges in areas where laying optical fibres is difficult. Initially available in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune, Jio AirFiber provides over 550 HD digital TV channels and includes free access to more than 16 OTT apps such as Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Sony Liv. Users also receive a Wi-Fi router, 4K Smart Set Top Box, and voice remote at no extra cost. Earlier this week,  Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) introduced a limited-time “Diwali Dhamaka” offer, providing new and existing Jio AirFiber users with a complimentary one-year subscription.
