Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Mihir Jain, sales and marketing director, Insight Cosmetics, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy immersing myself in a good book. Currently, I’m reading Cold Steel by Tim Bouquet and Byron Ousey. It’s a fascinating dive into the intense and competitive world of finance, offering insights into the pressures and strategies within the industry. I find it both engaging and thought-provoking, as it sheds light on the complexities of financial power and the personal stories behind high-stakes decisions. It’s a great way to unwind and expand my perspective.
How do you spend your weekends?
I spend my weekends playing lawn tennis, which is my go-to activity for staying motivated and energized. It’s the perfect way to relieve stress and clear my mind after a busy week. Tennis helps me stay focused, improves my physical fitness, and maintains a positive outlook, even during tough times. The combination of exercise and friendly competition makes it both enjoyable and rewarding, and it’s my favourite way to recharge before the week ahead.
What are your favourite gadgets?
My favourite gadgets are smartphones and noise-canceling headphones. I find smartphones incredibly versatile, as they keep me connected, organized, and entertained, all in one device. Noise-canceling headphones are a game-changer for me, helping me block out distractions and focus, whether I’m working, commuting, or just enjoying music. Both gadgets enhance my productivity and relaxation, making them essential in my daily life. They offer a perfect balance of convenience, efficiency, and quality that I appreciate.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If given the option to choose another career, I would choose to be an architect. I’ve always been fascinated by the blend of creativity and functionality in design. The idea of shaping spaces that influence people’s lives and experiences is both exciting and fulfilling. Architecture allows for innovation while addressing practical needs, and I love the challenge of creating sustainable, aesthetically pleasing structures. It would be rewarding to leave a lasting impact on the environment and the way people interact with spaces.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
My favourite vacation spot is Dubai. I’m drawn to its unique blend of modernity and tradition, offering a safe, vibrant environment for travellers. Dubai’s growing economy and world-class infrastructure make it an exciting place to explore, with incredible shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The city’s stunning architecture, beautiful beaches, and cultural landmarks create a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. It’s a place where I can unwind, experience luxury, and witness the rapid evolution of a global metropolis.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching Fav series
I highly recommend watching Suits, a legal drama that combines sharp dialogue, strategic thinking, and complex characters. It’s a fascinating series that showcases the power of negotiation and problem-solving—skills that are also valuable in architecture. As for a movie, I’d suggest Inception, which explores innovative concepts of design and structure in mind-bending ways. For an ad campaign, the Apple – Think Different campaign is inspiring, celebrating creativity and innovation—values I believe are crucial in both architecture and other fields.
