Footwear major Bata India has inked a licensing and manufacturing deal with Authentic Brands Group, the maker of lifestyle shoe brand Nine West, to retail the latter’s products in the country.

The Board of Directors of Bata India on Monday gave its approval to the arrangement, under which Bata India will have the rights to manufacture, market and distribute Nine West shoes and accessories across India through its stores.

“….Under the arrangement, Bata India will have rights to manufacture, market and distribute Nine West shoes and accessories across India through its stores,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

Bata India has several strategic tie ups. Its own brand, North Star, has reportedly seen 1.15 times growth on a year-on-year basis since June 2023.

Bata India is the largest retailer in terms of revenue and number of retail stores in India. During financial year 2022, there were about 2,050 stores of Bata India Limited across the country.

The company reported a net profit of Rs 106.8 crore for the June quarter of FY24, registering a decline of 10.3% from Rs 119.3 crore a year back. Its revenue stood at Rs 958.1 crore, rising 1.6% from Rs 943 crore in the year-ago quarter.
