IndiGo airline on Thursday announced its plan to introduce a business class service this year. The airline will unveil the details of its “tailor-made business product” in August. This announcement follows closely on the heels of IndiGo’s recent decision to purchase 30 wide-body aircraft.
IndiGo, which currently operates solely with an economy class, boasts a fleet of over 360 aircraft and manages around 2,000 flights daily. The introduction of a business class marks a significant step in the airline’s evolution, reflecting India’s soaring economy and the changing aspirations of its society.
“This product will create a desired option for many who are aiming to travel business, perhaps for the first time in their lives,” the official release noted.
The service will be available on the nation’s busiest and most business-centric routes and is expected to be operational by the end of the year. Detailed information regarding the product offering, launch date and specific routes will be revealed in August, coinciding with IndiGo’s anniversary.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers emphasized the airline’s dedication to innovation. “Over the past 18 years, India’s and IndiGo’s growth stories have been closely interlinked. We believe as India gears up to become the third largest economy in the world, it’s our privilege to provide the next level of service to our passengers,” Elbers stated.
