India has installed more than five lakh 5G mobile towers across the country as of October 2025, as per an answer shared by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications, in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, while responding to a starred question on the status of 5G rollout and rural digital infrastructure.

5G Expansion: Over 5.08 lakh BTS installed

According to the statement available on the Digital Sansad’s website, telecom service providers have set up 5.08 lakh 5G BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) nationwide till 31 October 2025.

The Minister confirmed that rural digital connectivity has strengthened under the BharatNet programme. As of October 2025, 2.14 lakh Gram Panchayats are service-ready for broadband, and 13.66 lakh Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections have been provided across the country.

Bridging the digital divide in remote regions

Scindia noted that several government schemes are currently addressing connectivity gaps in border and remote areas through the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) fund. According to him, the key initiatives include BharatNet optical fibre coverage in Gram Panchayats and villages, Mobile service expansion in Left-Wing Extremism-affected and aspirational districts, expansion of network in border regions and a 4G saturation scheme implemented to cover all the uncovered villages.

Rajasthan: 30,286 5G towers installed

The government also released district-wise data for Rajasthan, showing the installation of 30,286 5G BTS units across the state. Within the state, Jaipur takes the lead with a count of 5,033 towers. This is followed by Jodhpur with 2,115, Udaipur with 1,487, and Alwar with a count of 1,497. Districts such as Salumbar (11), Balotra (16), and Phalodi (29) remain at the lower end of the rollout.
