When 100 million smartphones were sold in 2015, one out of every three phones were bought online by consumers, with Flipkart being the largest seller, and Lenovo being the marketleader among smartphones sold online, according to a recent report by CounterPoint Research. Flipkart sold almost half of the total smartphones sold online, followed by Snapdeal and Amazon India, while Lenovo and Samsung were the top brands that consumers prefered to buy through e-commerce channels, the report said.

“In 2015, it was a three horse race between Flipkart, Amazon & Snapdeal, together accounting for almost 90% of the online smartphone sales volumes,” said Pavel Naiya, an analyst at Counterpoint Research.
