Even as recession clouds in the world’s largest economy looms over Indian IT firms, Bangalore-based mid-cap software services firm Sonata Software Ltd has said that the company is expanding its facility in the Silicon Capital of India by investing Rs 20 crore. The company will set up its fourth facility in Bangalore in phases that will accommodate an additional 800 employees.
Currently, the company has three facilities in Bangalore with a combined area of 1.24 lakh sq ft and 1,200 employees, while the Hyderabad centre with an 800-seat capacity is nearing full capacity.
The fourth Bangalore centre will initially be a 20,000 sq ft facility and when fully developed will have 1 lakh sq ft. It will come up 12 km from the city at the Global Village SEZ. In Hyderabad, Sonata will develop another facility in a seven-acre land in an SEZ that will accommodate 2,000 people.
“To enable growth both from existing as well as new customers, we have embarked on this expansion. The Sonata Software campus at the Global Village will have world-class infrastructure,” president and managing director B Ramaswamy said in a statement here on Tuesday.
