Finding it a tailor-made opportunity in the backdrop of the government?s withdrawn affidavit in the Supreme Court rejecting the existence of ?Ram Setu?, the BJP, is all set to exploit the row over Sethusamudram project. The saffron partywill put the issue as the main agenda for discussion during the three-day Bhopal national executive meet schedule to begin from September 21.
BJP?a faction-ridden party till now, was struggling with its internal squabblin. Tha party is now more than happy to see possible snap polls expected to take place next year in the backdrop of troubled relationship between the UPA and the Left over the Indo-US Nuclear deal.
Most of the top leaders of the party feel that despite withdrawal of the ill-conceived affidavit, the Congress has scored a self-goal. ?Certainly, we will take the issue up for discussion during our Bhopal meet,? senior BJP leader LK Advani said, adding that it?s not just a mistake, but a blasphemous blunder, which needed to be discussed threadbare. Apart from this, other issues, which will be taken up for discussion at the meet, will include internal security, price rise, farmers? suicides, wheat import and dissidence in those states, where the party is ruling. The party is set to adopt resolutions on internal security, farmers plight and Centre?s agriculture policy that has driven several farmers to suicides.
Taking a comprehensive view on the reported incidences of dissidence among party leaders in some states, the executive committee will also discuss issues on organisational matters and will try to find out means to contain them. Moreover, two other issues, which will be discussed proximately at the meet, are nuclear deal and Sachar Committee report.
