Orissa Television (OTV), the satellite channel division of Ortel Communication, is lining up 12 new Oriya films for premiere in the channel during the coming festive season.
Agnisikha, having a budget of Rs 25 lakh, will be the first Oriya film to be premiered on OTV during the pujas. The film is being been produced by Bijoy Kandoi, a well-known Oriya producer who has given hits like Nari Nuhein Tu Narayani, Toapi Sindora De Topa Luha, Rakata Chinichi Nijara Kia, Thank U Bhagaban and Rakata Deichi Maaku.
“We are going to outsource the films from reputed producers”, said BP Rath, director, OTV. ” We plan to telecast premieres of half-a-dozen movies in one year”, he added.
OTV, whose GRP (gross rating point) has doubled to 296 points in the last seven months, is now showing two mega serials–Damini and Uttardaye.
“With the new films and the mega serials on air, OTV’s popularity is expected to go up in the coming months”, said CR Naya, general manager, OTV.
