Noted Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away late night on Sunday aged 62 at a private hospital in Kozhikode. He was undergoing treatment for kidney-related issues, as per news agency ANI.
Major Ravi’s heartbreaking post about his brother
Pattambi’s brother and filmmaker Major Ravi took to Facebook to share about his tragic demise at around 11:41 pm on Sunday. He also informed that his funeral rites would be conducted at their residence in Njanganthiri, Pattambi at 4pm on Monday, January 5, 2026.
“My younger brother, Kannan Pattambi, left for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti,” Major Ravi wrote in Malayalam on Facebook.
Kannan Pattambi’s notable film projects
Kannan Pattambi is known for his work in Kandahar (2010), Odiyan (2018) and Karma Yodha (2012). His acting projects also included Pulimurugan, Ananthabhadram, Keerthichakra, Vettam, Crazy Gopalan, Thantra, and 12th Man. His upcoming film Rachel will mark his final performance on screen.
All about Kannan Pattambi’s family
The Malayalam actor was born in 1964 in Pattambi, Palakkad district to Kuttishankaran and Sathyabhama. He is survived by his family. His elder brother, filmmaker and actor Major Ravi, is a retired officer of the Indian Army.
He is also a former National Security Guard commando and was awarded the President’s gallantry medal in 1991 and 1992 for his contributions in fighting terrorism in Punjab and Kashmir.

Meanwhile fans, family, and people from Malayalam fraternity have been posting tribute mourning the actor’s death.
“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kannan Pattambi, a versatile actor and production controller of Malayalam cinema. He will always be remembered for his acting in films like ‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Amen’ and for his dedication behind the scenes. My deepest condolences to Major Ravi and his family,” a social media user wrote.
“Truly heartbreaking Kannan Pattambi was a gem both on-screen and behind the scenes. His contributions to Malayalam cinema will always be remembered. Condolences to Major Ravi and the entire family,” another X post read.
