Rajan?s going strong

Apropos of the editorial ?Five pillars, one man? (FE, September 3). The RBI Governor deserves every bit of appreciation and accolade for his remarkable saving of the rupee by bringing in the FCNR-B window and the currency swap for oil companies which helped to reduce the CAD, accompanied by the massive cut in gold import. His commitment towards rupee?s stabilisation and controlling of inflation is remarkable. Yet, the growing volume of NPAs mars the record; the Bhusan Steel case is evidence that the banking sector direly needs to revamp policies to lend on prudent norms. Co-operation from the Modi government could help both RBI and the government set India on a virtuous path of growth.
