Coming down heavily on the Left parties for their reported ?climb down? on nuclear deal issue, the BJP on Tuesday said, it?s an extreme case of ?political opportunism? to save each other and fool people on an issue that has immense national import.

Attempting to exploit the situation in the wake of Left turnaround allowing government now to approach the IAEA, the saffron party said that its ??apprehension that the Marxists? objection and opposition to the nuclear deal was not based on principle but on convenience has ultimately come true??.

??It?s a trade-off between government and the CPI(M) over Nandigram fiasco and the compromise between the two has exposed the Marxist party?s ?drama? over opposition to the deal,?? senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinhha said.

The BJP is of the opinion that the moment the CPI(M) got into political difficulties because of Nandigram they have come forward to compromise with the government on the deal and offered concessions

??The Prime Minister is silent on Nandigram, which the Governor had described as a war-zone. Had it been a non-UPA or non-Left ruling state, the government would have descended heavily on the state,?? Sinha added Sinha also contested Karat?s claim that Maoists were behind the turmoil in Nandigram and said the Left party was trying to give the ?popular movement? there an ?entirely uncalled for colour?.
