IOC net profit up, HPCL still in the red

Indian Oil Corp (IOC) has reported a 11% jump in its net profit at Rs 1,468.41 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal. Sales turnover increased 9.5% to Rs 58,205 crore from Rs 53,142 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. IOC's total income increased 11.74 % to Rs 54,553.01 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, from Rs 48,819.68 crore a year ago.

HPCL posts Rs 87 cr net loss

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has posted a net loss of Rs 86.93 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to net loss of Rs 607.67 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006. Total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 20,777.06 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 to Rs 22,216.79 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

NTPC net up 53%

NTPC Ltd has reported a 52.62% jump in net profit at Rs 2,369.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30 compared to Rs 1,552.8 crore for the same period last year. Total income (net of electricity duty) increased by 19.03 % at Rs 9,687.8 crore for the June quarter as compared to Rs 8,139 crore for the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

M&M PAT down 6%,

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has posted a 6.36% decline in the profit after tax for the first quarter ending June 30, 2007. The company's PAT for the Q1 2007-08 stood at Rs 191.17 crore as against Rs 204.17 crore posted for the same period last year. The companys total turnover for the quarter however increased to 16.6% at Rs 2,941.22 crore from Rs 2,503.13 crore recorded for the corresponding period previous year.

Aditya Birla Nuvo net up

Aditya Birla Nuvo posted a jump of over 50% in net profit at Rs 99.8 crore as against Rs 66.7 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The companys consolidated revenues increased by 78% to Rs 2,320.8 crore from Rs 1,305.7 crore during the same period. This was largely driven by revenues from its subsidiaries like Idea and joint ventures, which saw a phenomenal rise of 202%, from Rs 522.5 crore to Rs 1579.8 crore. However, on a standalone basis, the company's net profit was down 112.4% at Rs 26.5 crore from Rs 56.3 crore. Stand-alone revenues declined 5.6% at Rs 741.0 cr from Rs 783.2 crore.

an Paints Q1 net up

Asian Paints Ltd posted consolidated net profit of Rs 81.92 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 as compared to Rs 60.3 crore for the same quarter of previous year. Total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 783.53 crore for the quarter to Rs 969.43 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

Shipping net soars 75%

Great Eastern Shipping Company (GE Shipping), has posted a net profit of Rs 421.04 crore for the quarter ended June 30, an increase of 75% as against Rs 241.06 crore for the corresponding period of FY07. The total income of the company has increased 58.87% to Rs 869.69 crore compared to Rs 547.40 crore of same quarter in last fiscal.

tech income up 158%

Unitech has posted a total income (on a consolidated basis) of Rs 899.67 crore as well as a consolidated profit after tax at Rs 365.67 crore. Companys total income during the quarter increased by 158% to Rs 788.73 crore from Rs 306.21 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
