Inorbit Malls (India) Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of K Raheja Corp, is currently in talks with Trent ? the retail company of the Tatas ? to set up Trent?s Star Bazaar hypermarkets and Landmark book stores within the upcoming Inorbit Malls in various cities, Kishore Bhatija, chief executive officer, Inorbit Malls (India)told FE.

The company has recently signed up with Trent for setting up Westside store within the upcoming Inorbit Mall at Vashi in Navi Mumbai and various other locations where Inorbit Mall will be launched.

According to Bhatija, the company is also in talks with fast food retail giant, McDonald?s India, to set up Mc-Donald?s restaurants within the upcoming Inorbit malls which are yet to be finalised. Since Inorbit Mall (termed as an urban enclosed mall) is positioned in the mid-to-premium segment, branded stores are selected depending on the mall catchment area apart from customers? needs and preferences in certain specific locations.?

For instance, Hyper City, part of K Raheja Corp, spread across one lakh sq ft area, is currently operational at Inorbit Mall in Vashi. However, lifestyle store is not present within Inorbit mall here, unlike in Malad.

Soon after Inorbit Mall (India) launched its second Inorbit mall at Vashi with operational 34 anchor tenants stores, at least 80 additional new branded stores will be operational by this Diwali. They include, Westside Jombo Electronics, Time Zone, Homestop, Kangaroo Kids, Shoppers Stop are among other anchor tenants which are likely to be open soon,? Mahrukh Vijan, manager – marketing, Inorbit Mall, Vashi said.

Prior to opening Inorbit Mall in Baroda, Pune, Cyberabad in Hyderabad, Inorbit Mall (India) is soon launching a 5 lakh sq ft Inorbit Mall in Vashi which is understood to be more spacious as compared to existing one in Malad.

Bhatija said, ?We aim to be a 25 retail mall company in the next five years in India. Plans are also on the anvil to set up 7.5 lakh sq ft ?Village? branded value retail malls with a village mall concept in tier II and tier III cities. As for luxury mall, we are planning to set up in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore to start with. South Mumbai will be the area of focus for setting up luxury malls.?

According to Bhatija, ?Apart from our existing Inorbit Mall in Malad, all our upcoming Inorbit Malls, value retail malls, luxury malls will have green building certifications.?
