The year 2007 has witnessed a sharp increase in the number and salary levels of temporary jobs, particularly in the blue collar vertical (manufacturing sector) and the retail sector, according to the Teamlease annual temporary salary primer. The report asserts that temporary employees in the IT industry have provided around 33% cost saving to the employers by replacing the permanent staff.

Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi have paid the highest level of salaries to temporary staff.
