Even as the squabble among telecom operators on spectrum allocation rages, companies are busy offering innovative schemes this Diwali. Bharti Airtel, the largest telecom player in the country, has launched a number of contests for the festive season, while Reliance Communications (RCom), the second largest player, has introduced new-value added services (VAS). BPL Mobile, on the other hand, has come out with new prepaid schemes as an attraction.

Airtel has come with a slew of contests, under the scheme, ?Festivals of India,? where subscribers can dial up and answer questions related to Indian festivals.

The cash awards range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. The contest, which is available in English and various other regional languages, bears a charge of Rs 6 per minute.

In another contest, Music Masti, the subscriber can identify the tune and get lucky to win N-Series mobile phones. Another one offers winners diamond vouchers worth Rs 2,500 each. Two lucky users will also win diamond vouchers worth Rs 1 lakh each.

Reliance Mobile?s Diwali Dhamaka allows customers to download Diwali wallpapers, animations of celebrations, ringtones, true tones and exciting games at a price range of Rs 5-15.

Meanwhile, BPL has launched a prepaid scheme of Rs 501 recharge with Rs 446 talk time. Apart from prepaid schemes, BPL’s offers include Diwali caller tunes, virtual crackers, virtual puja and teen patti.

Krishna Durbha, head, sales and marketing, applications, solutions and content group, RCom said, ?With a mix of great original ideas and fantastic execution, we have really added value to our mobile offerings on Reliance Mobile World platform, giving festival goers mobile content that is genuinely fun, relevant and practical.?
