Coming out openly for the first time in favour of senior BJP leader LK Advani since it admonished him for his controversial remarks eulogising founder of Pakistan Mohamad Ali Jinnah, the RSS in the latest edition of its weekly mouthpiece ?Organiser? has claimed that the former deputy Prime Minister is a lucky mascot for the party and his elevation as Prime Ministerial candidate will augur well for ?Sangh Parivar?.
In an article on Advani?s nomination, the weekly said it was ?natural? that the leader of the Opposition was chosen as the party?s candidate for the top job in the country. The BJP had done a ?sensible thing? by taking this unanimous decision. The NDA allies too had endorsed the decision instantaneously, it claimed.
The weekly also added that Advani was ?lucky? for the BJP, as the party had won many electoral battles under his leadership. The timing of his selection was excellent as the UPA was presently failing to settle its internal contradictions, editor R Balashankar has stated in the article.
The weekly said, Advani was a ?tough-minded optimist?, who has nurtured the party to centre stage. He offered an alternative approach, canvassed support for a new idea and pioneered a fresh debate that changed style and substance of Indian political formulations.
?He is both darling and a whipping boy of the media and no other contemporary politician had encountered and survived as much controversy as Advani,? the RSS mouthpiece said.
