Maoists killed two BSF personnel on Tuesday in the third phase of Assembly elections which saw 11 constituencies register around 55% turnout.

The two personnel of the BSF?s 137 C company?head constable Dharamvir Singh and constable Dinesh Sharma ?were shot dead by the Maoists near Sarasbangal in Shikaripara constituency around 3 pm. ?They belonged to the road opening party and were standing on the roadside when the extremists opened fire from a hillock,? said IG VH Deshmukh.

In the last three phases, elections were held in 50 of the total 81 constituencies.

The fourth phase of polls will be held on December 12 in 14 constituencies.
