Basavaraj Bommai

Basavaraj Somappa Bommai is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is the current Chief Minister of Karnataka, having taken office on July 28, 2021.

Bommai was born on January 28, 1960, in the northern Karnataka town of Hubli. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, S. R. Bommai. He began his political career as a member of the Janata Dal and later joined the BJP. He has been elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) four times from various constituencies in Karnataka.

Bommai has held several positions in the government, including Minister for Water Resources, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, and Home Affairs in the Government of Karnataka. He has also been the president of the BJP’s Karnataka unit.

Bommai is known for his efforts to improve the infrastructure and living conditions of people in rural areas. He has implemented several schemes for the benefit of farmers and has worked to improve the road network in the state.

As Chief Minister, Bommai has pledged to focus on improving the health infrastructure in Karnataka and tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also promised to prioritize the development of the state’s rural areas and improve the road network and transportation system in the state.
