
Ajinkya Rahane is one of the most technically sound batsmen, with a temperament described as calm and adaptability, born on June 6, 1988, in Maharashtra, India. The year 2011 saw Rahane make his international debut, contesting in a T20I against the English side, followed that same year by his ODI debut. Rahane debuted in Tests in 2013 against Australia and soon became an important part of India’s middle order. While countries keep scoring and Rahane keeps taking runs overseas, he has two match-winning centuries; one at Lord’s, out of his 12 Test-match hundreds, was the series-winning century and that too made in the penultimate Test against England in 2014, while the other was the most famous feat when he led Indian touring party to Australia in 2020-21 to do what no other visiting teams had. Dropped in 2022, he made a triumphant comeback in 2023 after a period of resilience.
He might have made his debut for the IPL with the Mumbai Indians in 2008, but Rahane’s emergence came with the Rajasthan Royals, for whom he notched up two centuries and opened the batting responsibly. Over 186 matches in the IPL, Rahane has scored more than 4,600 runs at an average of 24.61 with a strike rate of 123.90. He also played for the Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Chennai Super Kings. Having built the reputation of anchoring innings , Rahane has been given the Kolkata Knight Riders charge in IPL 2025 where he is proving to be a valued team asset.
