Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the disgraced music mogul, is adjusting to life behind bars. Once living in a multimillion-dollar Miami mansion, the first photos of the Bad Boy Records producer at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey have now surfaced. This is the first time he has been spotted since his arrest last September by the Department of Homeland Security following a house raid.

Combs was sentenced last month to four years and two months in prison after being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. His sentencing came after a month-long trial and hundreds of lawsuits and complaints accusing him of serious crimes, including sexual harassment, sex trafficking, racketeering, and more. In the photos, he appeared to be smiling while talking to fellow inmates and seemed at ease.

Diddy spotted in prison first time since sentencing

Photos obtained by TMZ showed Combs walking outdoors during his recreation time on Friday. He wore a prison beanie and a navy blue jacket as he appeared to chat with other inmates. The disgraced musician was almost unrecognisable with a full face of gray hair — a dramatic change from his typically very flamboyant red carpet appearance.

These are the first images showing Combs as an inmate at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison, where he was shifted a day before.

The internet was surprised to see him in this state with some insisting that the musician needed a “humbling experience”. Others appeared furious to see Combs seemingly relaxed and cheerful in prison. “This is hilarious — it’s Diddy and the old heads with natural, nappy gray hair, no dyes or relaxers, just steel wool,” one person commented on X. “Honestly, he needed this humbling experience; he was jumping on tables and slapping people with money,” another wrote. “How come he’s smiling and seems so relaxed? That’s what happens when you know you’ve escaped severe charges,” a third user added. “Man, I bet he’s telling some crazy stories in there, lol, he’s enjoying his stay” another chimed.

Apart from serving prison time, Combs, at the time of sentencing, was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and to take part in programs addressing mental health and substance abuse issues. The rapper was previously held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York.

Why was Diddy shifted to Fort Dix?

On Saturday, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Combs is now serving time at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix. This comes a week after concerns were raised by the rapper’s longtime friend, Charlucci Finney, who claimed that Combs had a terrifying encounter during his stay at MDC Brooklyn. Finney claimed that the rapper woke up one night with a knife to his throat.

Following the attack claims, Combs was moved to the low-security unit, where he is now serving his 50-month sentence. His expected release date is May 8, 2028.

The prison is located inside Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, a combined military installation northeast of Philadelphia.
