Tesla CEO Elon Musk has launched a scathing attack on President Donald Trump’s flagship legislation—the “One Big Beautiful Bill”—calling it a “disgusting abomination” and accusing it of undoing the savings achieved by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In a series of fiery posts on X, Musk claimed the bill nullifies the $180 billion in spending cuts made by DOGE, a Trump-era initiative Musk was asked to lead following the President’s 2024 victory. Critics, including public health experts, have warned that DOGE’s cuts already had severe humanitarian consequences, with projections of up to 300,000 deaths due to reduced USAid spending.
‘Kill Bill’ Meme Sparks KBBB Coin Surge
In response to Musk’s criticism, crypto enthusiasts rallied behind a new meme coin—Kill Big Beautiful Bill (KBBB)—launched via Pump.fun shortly after Musk posted a parody of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill billboard. The coin hit a $53.12 million market cap within nine hours before dipping 30% and bouncing back to $38.22 million. The top trader netted over $94,000 in profits, while another turned a $4,599 investment into nearly $60,000. AI-generated memes featuring a stylised version of Musk replaced Uma Thurman in Kill Bill posters, symbolizing the rising tension between two of the most powerful figures in tech and politics.
Musk out of DOGE
Musk’s exit, which had been widely speculated for weeks, came shortly after he publicly criticized a sweeping budget bill currently under consideration in Congress. DOGE, formed through an executive order by President Donald Trump rather than an act of Congress, has faced mounting legal scrutiny over the breadth of its operations. The group has been accused of lacking transparency and falling short of its ambitious cost-cutting goals. Much of the criticism has also centered on its staff, many of whom come from tech backgrounds and have little to no prior experience in government.
Despite the formal resignation, Trump insisted at a joint news conference that Musk is “not really leaving” and will continue to have a presence in the White House. As a parting gesture, the president presented Musk with a large golden key housed in a wooden box, symbolizing his ongoing influence. DOGE’s mission includes streamlining federal operations through IT upgrades and structural reforms. Its current mandate runs through July 2026, though Trump retains the authority to extend its work via another executive order.
