US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, shortly after a US trade court blocked his ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs, and shared a picture of himself with the caption that read, “He’s on a mission from god & nothing can stop what is Coming.”

The Court has ruled that only Congress has the constitutional power to manage trade with other countries, and this authority cannot be overridden by the president, even during economic emergencies. The court said that its decision was not based on whether using tariffs as a negotiation tactic was effective or wise, but rather that the law simply does not permit it.
The decision was made in response to two lawsuits—one brought by the Liberty Justice Center on behalf of five small US businesses that rely on imports from countries affected by the tariffs, and another filed by 13 states. The businesses involved, including a wine and spirits importer from New York and a Virginia company that produces educational kits and instruments, argue that the tariffs threaten their survival.
Additional legal cases against the tariffs are ongoing. Oregon’s Attorney General Dan Rayfield, whose office leads the state coalition, criticised the tariffs as harmful and unlawful, stating that the ruling confirms trade policy must follow legal process, not presidential discretion.
