An eyewitness account of the deadly Minneapolis shooting involving an ICE agent has surfaced online. Emily Heller, a resident of the street where the incident occurred, described witnessing the moment a 37-year-old woman, identified as Renee Nicole Good, was shot and killed by the agent while inside her car. Heller said she confronted the ICE agent immediately after the shooting, screaming “you shot her in the face” in the aftermath of the fatal incident.
‘How do you show up to work every day?’
Heller was seen screaming at the agents present at the site. “You just shot my neighbour in the f face. How do you show up to work every day? How do you do this ‘every day?” she said, addressing an ICE agent right after the shooting.
Describing the incident to CNN, Heller said “ICE was screaming at Good, asking her to move. They approached her vehicle…she was already moving but they shot her point blank through her vehicle in her face.”
Heller also revealed that ICE agents were trying to enter the victim’s car, which triggered Good’s attempt to leave.
Officer was scared for his life, says DHS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) defended the ICE agent, terming the shooting as an “act of self defence”.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the officer was scared for his life and the safety of others. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is calling the incident an “act of domestic terrorism,” referring to the woman’s actions.
Heller, however, countered the claim and remarked that the narrative needs to be debunked. “I can’t let this narrative of self defence go ahead any further”.
“My neighbours are going to be pretty traumatised by this incident for a long time,” she said, adding that delayed medical response to the shooting also contributed greatly to Good’s death.
US President Donald Trump had also defended the ICE agent who fired the shots in his first public remarks since the shooting. In a post on Truth Social, Trump the victim of the January 7 incident driving the car in a “very disorderly” manner, and “viciously” attempting to run over the ICE Officer.
“The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate,” he wrote.
