A recent social media post has gone viral fuming MAGA supporters. The post, allegedly written by a Robinhood employee, claims, “I rejected five MAGA candidates even though they did well in interviews.”

It further added, “You say we only hire H-1B workers and pay them less? You don’t get opportunities just because you’re MAGA? Well, I’ll make that happen. If I even suspect you’re MAGA or a Trump supporter, you’re out. You’re not working on my team at Robinhood.”

Why is this post controversial?

The controversial statement comes at a time when tensions are rising over the recent $100k H-1B visa proclamation. This new rule mandates that applicants for H-1B visas must pay a $100k application fee.

MAGA critics of the visa program argue that it takes job opportunities away from American workers. In this context, the viral post has only intensified the debate, making it a focal point of major discussion.

MAGA is gunning for the poster

Netizens are slamming the author of the post. A user wrote, Robinhood should be investigated for confirmed discrimination against conservative Americans.@AAGDhillon I hope you won’t allow this to happen.”

Another added, “Political affiliation is not a protected class.” “My husband was filling out a job application last week. And one of the questions on that application was, “Do you get emotional when you listen to the soundtrack of Hamilton?” We all know what kind of question that was, we know what is coming.”

“Find this guy at the earliest,” added another.

“At this point, there’s no indication this is company policy. Fortunately, these types of people have a need to brag. They out themselves,” claimed a user. “What a total misnomer, Robinhood. More like conservatives need not apply. Stop spending your money here,” noted a twitterati.

Robinhood’s clarification

Meanwhile, the company clarified their stance. On X, Robinhood posted, “After a thorough investigation, we believe we’ve identified the author of the original post: a disgruntled former employee who was terminated for poor performance after several months.”

It further added, “Unfortunately, this was posted on an anonymous social media site that doesn’t filter out ex-employees. Robinhood is firmly a merit-based company and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, on political beliefs or otherwise.”
