The seemingly endless harrowing streak of US shooting incidents continued over the weekend. In another heartbreaking development, six people, including a 5-year-old juvenile, were shot Saturday night (US time) in Northwest Baltimore, as per CNBC-affiliate WBALTV.

Police in Baltimore responded to a “mass shooting” on August 9, and shared words of caution on social media. “BPD is scene of a mass shooting at the intersection of Spaulding & Queensbury Avenues,” authorities shared via their official page on X, formerly Twitter.

Given the situation at hand, officials closed down multiple street in the area. Urging citizens to avoid the locale, they affirmed that more information would follow once available. In a subsequent update, the Baltimore Police added to their tweet thread: “Media Staging Area will be located at the intersection of Queensbury & Belvedere Avenues.”

According to the local news outlet The Baltimore Banner, the six victims found on the scene were four males and two females.

One of the two females shot at the scene was a 5-year-old girl, whose hand was injured Saturday. Additionally, a 38-year-old man, when taken to a local hospital, was found in critical condition.

All victims reportedly incurred non-life-threatening injuries. Others afflicted by the horror were in the age range from 23 to 52 years, as per Police Commissioner Richard Worley.

The Baltimore shooting case comes merely hours after a teenager was apprehended for opening fire in the heart of Times Square, New York. Three people were left injured in the process, according to the New York Police Department. An eyewitness even shared visuals of the chaotic scene on X, formerly Twitter.
