Bondi shooter father and son flew on different passports

The father and son duo accused in the Bondi Beach shooting, had travelled to Philippines on November 1 and left on November 28, the BBC reported citing teh country’s immigration authorities. The report said that the father, Sajid Akram had travelled on an Indian passport while the son, Naveed Akram had travelled on an Australian passport.

The duo had listed Davao, a large city in the southern part of the Philippines on the island of Mindanao, as their destination. Their return flight was booked for Sydney.

The BBC reported that “Islamist militants” are known to be operational in parts of central and southwestern Mindanao.

The Philippine military told the BBC that it could not immediately confirm earlier reports that the two men had received “military-style training” while in the country.

Australia’s Prime Minister has said the attack seems to have been inspired by Islamic State ideology. Police reported that a vehicle used by the gunmen contained homemade Islamic State flags and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The victims of Sunday’s attack include a 10-year-old girl, a British-born rabbi, a retired police officer, and a Holocaust survivor. According to the latest update, 24 people are still in hospital, with three in critical condition and another five critical but stable.
