An unidentified 9-year-old child died at The Boardwalk, an 11-acre themed-water attraction located inside Hersheypark amusement park in Central Pennsylvania, United States. John Lawn, the CEO of Hersey Entertainment and Resorts Co, has since issued a statement addressing the water park tragedy.
“From the moment our lifeguard team recognised that a child was in distress, they performed an immediate rescue, followed by continuous, coordinated life-saving efforts of our lifeguards, on-site first responders, and medical personnel,” Lawn shared in his statement posted on the Hersheypark Facebook and X pages.

In addition to first-responders offering the child instant aid, the 9-year-old was also immediately transported to Milton S Hershey Medical Centre. However, they failed to recover the kid’s life.

Extending their deepest condolences to the family, the amusement park boss said that they were refraining from releasing further details and the deceased young one’s name at this time.
Asserting that each visiting family’s safety remained a priority at Hersheypark, John Lawn concluded the message, saying that they will thoroughly investigate the US tragedy at hand.
The CEO also foregrounded that an internal review would be launched in the next few days, as the park is expected to fully cooperate with authorities. A cause of death has yet to be officially revealed in the case.

The upsetting tragedy took place at the US water park that features 16 water attraction and one million gallons of water, according to its website. Although a particular attraction where the child lost their life wasn’t named, some of the rides and playgrounds therein include Breakers Edge Water Coaster, Coastline Plunge, WhiteCap Racer, East Coast Water Works, Bayside Pier, Intercoastal Waterway, Shoreline Sprayground and more.
