The Hamas-run Gaza government media office said on Monday (April 1) informed that at least five employees of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) non-governmental organisation, including foreigners, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza. 

What happened

People from Poland, Australia and Britain and one Palestinian, were killed in the incident in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, a spokesperson of the media office said. “We are aware of reports that members of the World Central Kitchen team have been killed in an IDF attack while working to support our humanitarian food delivery efforts in Gaza.This is a tragedy. Humanitarian aid workers and civilians should NEVER be a target. EVER,” WCK tweeted.

The Israeli military explained that it was conducting a review to understand the circumstances of of that tragic incident. It also added that a review was conducted to understand the circumstances of  the incident. “The IDF makes extensive efforts to enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and has been working closely with WCK in their vital efforts to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza,” as per insights from a military statement.

Anthony Albanese, prime minister, Australia, announced the death of an Australian aid worker. Additionally, Reuters shared a video showing paramedics moving bodies into a hospital and displaying the passports of three of those killed.

Safety measures 

The WCK continues to deliver food relief and prepare meals for the injured. Furthermore, Andres tweeted that he feels sad for the families and friends of those who died in the airstrike.
