The officials in US’ Georgia have arrested the father of the 14-year-old suspect of the school shooting that claimed the lives of four people and wounded nine others on Wednesday.

The officials said that the father has been arrested as he allowed his son to have the murder weapon knowingly. Colin Gray, 54, faces charges of four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

“These charges stem from Mr. Gray knowingly allowing his son Colt to possess a weapon,” Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Chris Hosey said.

Colt Gray, 14, has been charged with four counts of felony murder and will be tried as an adult, officials announced. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday morning via video before a Georgia Superior Court judge in Barrow County.

As per the Georgia state and investogators, the suspect used an “AR platform style weapon,” or semiautomatic rifle for the attack. The shooting killed two teachers and two 14-year-old students.

However, it is unclear how the suspect came into possession of the weapon.

Investigators have not yet commented on the possible motive behind the first US campus mass shooting since the start of the school year.

Authorities identified the victims as two 14-year-old students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, along with two teachers, Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53.
