At least 30 people, including women and children, were killed after the Pakistan Air Force reportedly dropped eight bombs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa village. Reports suggest that LS-6 bombs were released from JF-17 fighter jets on the village of Matre Dara around 2 am on Monday.

All those killed were civilians, several other injured

Local media say many people were also injured in the air strikes, but details about their condition are unclear.

Disturbing photos and videos from the site that are circulating on social media, show bodies of women and children scattered on the ground. Rescue teams are currently searching under the rubble, raising concerns that the death toll may rise.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has seen many counter-terrorism operations in the past, often resulting in civilian casualties. According to the province’s police, 605 terror incidents occurred between January and August this year, killing at least 138 civilians and 79 police personnel.

In August alone, there were 129 incidents, including the deaths of six Pakistan Army and paramilitary Federal Constabulary personnel.
