An 18-year-old boy has been charged for racially abusing and threatening an Indian-origin couple at the Lansdowne Place Mall parking lot in Canada. The incident occurred on July 29 which the police has described as a racially motivated attack, as per reports. The videos have now appeared on social media where the boy can be seen making inappropriate gestures at the couple and using racial slurs.

The videos of the incident that have emerged show three teenagers in a large white pickup truck blocking the couple’s car and yelling racial insults such as “big nose,” “you f*ing Indian,” and “you f*ing immigrant.” In one of the footage, the boy in question is seen getting out of the truck, walking to the couple’s vehicle, and making obscene gestures on the driver’s side mirror while staring at the male victim, who was recording. Another video shows the same teen sitting inside the truck, continuing to hurl abuse. 

What led to the heated exchange? 

The conflict reportedly began after the couple confronted the teens over damage to their vehicle. When the male victim asked the driver why they had approached in that manner, the front passenger replied, “Because you’re Black,” but the driver quickly said, “No.”

The teen in the back seat then told the victim, “Shut up, big nose,” and continued with more slurs, including “f***ing immigrant”. At one point, the same teen threatened to kill the male victim. He also argued that it was “not illegal to h*mp a vehicle” and challenged him to confirm whether he had been touched.
