Israel-Iran War: When Israel bombed the office of Iran’s state broadcaster in Tehran, Sahar Emami was reading the news live. She told viewers that the studio was filled with dust after she heard, what she described as, “the sound of the aggressor attacking the truth”. Shortly after, another bomb struck the building of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). At that moment, the TV behind her went off as the explosion shattered the screen, prompting her to run for safety. Smoke and debris filled the frame as a voice could be heard yelling “Allahu Akbar” before the channel transitioned to a pre-recorded programme.
Although the strike cut short her live program, it didn’t break her spirit. She returned to complete the broadcast, declaring on air, “The voice of reality will not be silenced.”
Many tagged her as the “voice of the Iranian nation” and shared a poster of her, lauding her for her “bravery” and “resistance”.
