Adeel Khan, MD, a Canadian doctor, grabbed the Internet’s attention after being spotted in Kim Kardashian‘s recent social media update. However, this isn’t the first time he’s shared headlines with global high-profile celebrities. Given his status as a pioneer in next-generation cell therapy innovation, Dr Khan has previously collaborated with popular talents like the Marvel Cinematic Universe icon Chris Hemsworth and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
Why is Dr Adeel Khan trending on social media?
He particularly jumped on the viral fame wave again this week as US reality star Kim Kardashian shared some eye-widening snaps of her stem cell treatment. Despite her excitement to share the life update, the socialite was ultimately slammed on Instagram, with many reminding her, “We’re not all billionaire unfortunately.”
The 44-year-old’s August 8 social media activity shed light on her “stem cell journey,” as she divulged how Eterna Health’s Dr Adeel Khan helped her as she ended up tearing her shoulder while lifting weights two years ago. Suffering with debilitating pain at the time, she noted, “I tried everything to find relief, then I learned about the potential of stem cell therapy and met Dr Adeel Khan at Eterna.”
She went on, “His team treated my shoulder with Dezawa Muse cells, and the results were immediate. I regained full range of motion, and my shoulder has felt completely normal ever since.”
Given the treatment’s success, Kardashian shared that she recently returned to the same doctor “to address chronic back pain” that she had been dealing with for year. However, the same post also went on to lay out the controversial nature of the said therapy as “Muse stem cells aren’t yet accessible in the US.” As a result, Kardashian had no choice but to be travel to Mexico for the treatment.
Kim K even shared an all-smiles snap with Dr Khan, which was followed a few scary clicks offering a glimpse at the procedure itself. The SKIMS founder also added a final Kodak moment to the IG carousel, featuring both Dr Khan and her sister, Khloe Kardashian.
Who is Dr Adeel Khan?
The Canadian Board-Certified Physician is the founder of Eterna Health, a regenerative medicine company. His work has been presented at ISSCR (International Society for Stem Cell Research), which is deemed the “gold standard in stem cell scientific meeting.” In addition to having been featured in published peer-reviewed journals, Dr Khan has often stepped out for numerous YouTube podcast guest appearances.
He goes by @dr.akhan on Instagram and @doctor.adeel on TikTok. Though a Canadian doctor, his origins trace back to Pakistan, as confirmed by some of his own Instagram posts. Sharing a photo of his parents in one such post, he wrote: “One of the first Pakistanis to immigrate to Toronto, my dad came with $5 and no family. His sacrifice paved the way for us to be successful.”
Last year, he announced via social media that he was moving out of Canada and relocating with his family to Dubai. ” I am very proud to be Canadian but I felt change was necessary to share and spread my work in the medical field,” he wrote online. “Unfortunately I was unable to practice regenerative medicine at the scale I wanted to using next generation stem cell and gene therapies because the laws in not just Canada but North America as a whole don’t allow it.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a University of Ottawa graduate and earned his medicine residency at McMaster University. His prior professional experiences include serving as the Senior Medical Advior at Minicircle Inc. Under his current leadership at Eterna Health, he has established clinics in Los Cabos, Mexico and Dubai.
Khan has often called out the outdated frameworks in place that limit access to regenerative treatments. “Canada has been one of the leaders in research, but real-world applications are restricted by regulations,” he said in an interview with Three Magazine. “We’re at a point where regenerative medicine can transform health care, but we need policies that allow it to scale.”
Further comparing regenerative medicine with the traditional health care model, he said, “Instead of cutting something out or prescribing drugs to suppress symptoms, regenerative medicine is about giving the body the right tools, signals or environment to heal itself.”
