This “beggar” from the streets of Mumbai is often spotted outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus or Azad Maidan. Bharat Jain is unlike any beggar you may have seen. He might look like one, but his Rs 7.5 crore net-worth sets him apart.

He faced numerous financial struggles while growing up. Jain’s family could barely make ends meet in terms of food, clothing, and shelter. For more than forty years, Bharat Jain has been begging, earning Rs 2000 to Rs 2,500 a day. The monthly outcome of Rs 60,000 is more than a lot of white-collar jobs in India today.

Jain’s assets

In a surprising turn of events, Jain saved and invested in property over time. Today, he owns two spacious flats in Mumbai with a combined value of Rs 1.4 crore. His family of two sons, his father and brother are the residents of these spaces.

Along with that, Bharat Jain also owns two commercial spaces in Thane which earns him a steady Rs 30,000 rental income per month. The passive income makes rather financially stable, much more than a fresher starting out his time in the Indian job market.

Both of Jain’s sons were enrolled in a reputed convent in Mumbai and have completed their education. The family owns a stationery business which is managed by them.

The most intriguing question, does Jain continue to beg? Yes. He does.
