The IndiGo flight cancellation spree has affected people and their plans in unpredictable manners. In one such situation, a newlywed couple had to attend their own wedding reception online, while guests were at the location. All this because their IndiGo flight from Bhubaneswar to Hubballi got cancelled. The video is widely being circulated on social media, as people continue to post about the consequences of their flights getting grounded.

The techie couple, Medha Kshirsagar from Hubballi and her husband, Sangama Das from Bhubaneswar, is based in Bengaluru and they reportedly planned a traditional reception at Gujarat Bhavan in Hubballi. The plan was for Wednesday, following their wedding in Bhubaneswar on November 23.

But IndiGo‘s mess was not on their list of sudden happenings. They were to fly from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru and then to Hubballi on December 2. However, the timings of the plane kept fluctuation, until it got cancelled on Wednesday morning.

All attempts to travel failed

Their flight reportedly got cancelled at 4 am and the families still thought they would manage somehow. But the crisis only deepened, hindering their any and all travel plans. Guests arrived at the location, and many struggled with their own issues with IndiGo.

The reception venue was decorated, guests had arrived and there was nothing anyone could do. So, the family planned an online reception, the only difference here is the couple was on the screens and the guest at the venue.

Dressed in traditional attires and sitting in their room, the couple attended their own wedding reception function virtually on a big screen.

IndiGo’s flight turbulence

IndiGo cancelled around 400 flights across the country on Friday, a day after grounding 550 domestic and international flights. All due to staff shortage and technical issues, majorly due to the DGCA‘s Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms.

After huge ruckus, the airline regulator withdrew the guidelines and relaxed some norms for the airline till Feb 10, 2026.

The DGCA has also asked the airline to submit a compliance report within 30 days with a full roadmap of the future.
