A Machine Learning and Data Science professional with three years of experience recently resigned from their company after securing an offer from another organization. The techie shared the story online, seeking opinions from the community on whether the decision could negatively impact their career.
From Learning Growth to Stagnation
The ML professional described the initial work and projects as exciting and educational. “Initially my work and projects were great. I was learning a lot of things. But slowly things have degraded,” they shared.
Despite repeated requests for better projects aligned with their skills, the company failed to deliver. “It’s not that I resigned suddenly. I communicated multiple times that I want better projects but they have not been able to give me. They make promises but can’t fulfil it,” the employee added.
Manager’s Warning Sparks Concerns
The individual also mentioned a conversation with their manager after submitting the resignation. “After I resigned, I had a discussion with my current manager where he said that if I resign now people will think I have been laid off and this could affect me,” they said.
However, the techie emphasized that interviews have been going well. “My interviews go very well most of the time and interviewers like me and my profile. So I know I got the necessary skills,” they noted.
The ML professional concluded the post by seeking advice: “Do you all think there is any degree or truth in it? Do you think because of layoff can impact me in any negative way?”
