Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com and a prominent figure in the Indian startup ecosystem, has ignited a flurry of reactions with a strongly worded LinkedIn post addressing India’s relationship with its neighbour, Pakistan, and emphasising India’s growth trajectory.
Drawing a stark contrast between the two nations born from the same soil in 1947, Mittal stated, “Every few years, the clown across the street sets himself on fire – just to prove he’s still in the circus 🤡 In 1947, two nations were born from the same soil. Today, one is launching satellites. The other is launching jihad. Noise is not power!”
Economic comparison of India vs Pakistan
Mittal asserted that India has long surpassed Pakistan in economic, cultural, and technological advancements, projecting an even greater divergence by 2030. He cautioned against being “distracted by a neighbour with nothing to lose,” while acknowledging the necessity of “strong borders and stronger foreign policy.”
He lauded India’s recent demonstration of its stance, stating, “India just demonstrated that she is not an aggressor but will neutralise when provoked & escalate if required. This is the maturity of a nation on the brink of greatness.”
Let’s get back to work
The entrepreneur urged the nation to focus on internal development rather than engaging in “war-mongering,” advocating for building “the Indian Dream – where merit & hard-work decide our future.” He credited the Armed Forces for reaffirming India’s sovereignty, self-reliance, and decisiveness, concluding with a call to action: “Now it’s our turn. Let’s get back to work 💪🏼 Jai Hind 🇮🇳”
Mittal’s post has quickly gone viral, garnering thousands of reactions and comments. While many users echoed his sentiments on India’s progress and the need to prioritise development, some expressed reservations about the tone and the generalisation of his statements regarding Pakistan.
