In a world where corporate communication often involves jargon-filled emails and cautiously worded suggestions, one college intern in the US decided to cut straight to the chase. And the internet loved it. Roshan Patel, founder and CEO of fintech firm Arrow Payments, took to X to share an eyebrow-raising email he received on an intern’s very first day.
A grand total of 22 words, delivered with the confidence of a TED Talk and the subtlety of a jackhammer: “Hey had a quick idea for the company, sorry if this was already brought up but have you tried increasing revenue?”
Mic drop.
And now, internet can’t keep calm
Patel, amused (and probably a little stunned), posted a screenshot with the caption, “We hired a college intern. Today’s his first day. Here’s what he just sent me.” The internet did the rest. Over 6.9 million views, countless retweets and a flood of commentary that ranged from hilarious to half-serious.

One user quipped, “Increase revenue by firing the intern,” while another praised the intern’s ‘razor-sharp instinct’, “Well, at least he understands the bottom line.”
Some dubbed him a “business genius in beta”. One user praised the intern and demanded his immediate promotion. “The fact that revenues or costs even crossed his mind before working on whatever -ev task he was assigned by management puts him at 98th percentile of staff in terms of business IQ. Promote him immediately,” the user said.
Netizen predicts his next mail
A user commented, “He has leadership written all over him.” Another said that the intern will have a long career in private equity. One user went far and predicted the intern’s next email. “Next email… sorry if someone has already brought this up but… have you tried lowering your expenses?” the user commented.
One user slammed Patel for sharing this on X and wrote, “Stop telling us about people you hire and deal with your business…honestly I would NEVER reach out to an exec with anything if I knew they would just post it on Twitter.”
