Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 in the last week of November. Bidding farewell to his fans across generations, he was survived by his wife, Hema Malini, six children, and other family members. After battling acute breathing issues and health complications, Dharmendra’s passing left a void in the Bollywood fraternity.
Over the past week, several notable personalities have offered their respects, remembering the Sholay legend. Lovingly called the ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, Dharmendra has played a diverse range of characters throughout the decades of his lustrous career. From a Greek warrior to a loving grandfather, he did not leave behind his passion for acting even in his 80s. Set to appear in the war film, Ikkis, Dharmendra plays the on-screen grandfather of Agastya Nanda, who immortalises the valiant sacrifice of Arun Khetarpal.
Dharmendra’s humble beginnings to luxury assets
Born in Nasrali, Dharmendra has ancestral ties to Dango in the Ludhiana district. The late veteran actor came from modest beginnings and spent the early years of his childhood in a quiet settlement. What started as a mud-and-brick house became the foundation stone of his rumoured Rs 450 crore worth.
The Dharam Veer actor was not only the owner of several real estate holdings but also of restaurants, film production ventures, and long-term investments. From his ancestral home in Ludhiana to his multi-crore properties in Lonavala, his passionate ventures also include wellness areas and farmland. His commercial properties in Mumbai are worth over Rs 17 crore, along with his unfinished plan to build 30 cottages in Lonavala as a commercial resort.
Who will inherit it all?
Despite the vast holdings and his long legacy of his six children, it is likely, they will not inherit these deals. His children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol, are reportedly not the heirs to his ancestral property. According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, Dharmendra had long entrusted his property to the children of his uncle. Reportedly worth Rs 5 crore, the land has huge sentimental value. The report claimed that one of his nephews, Boota Singh, who works in Ludhiana, would be the recipient of this generous gift.
However, the complete breakdown of the will is not publicly available as the family has requested privacy. This came after several outlets pushed out the news of his demise without an official report, which was later negated and called out on ethical grounds.
