Things often go south in the corporate life in India and employees these days share with the public to make them aware of what’s actually going on. One such person took to Reddit, a social media platform that lets users share posts anonymously, shared a post slamming his manager and asking if these managers “sell their souls” completely.
The user shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp chat with his manager, telling the person that his maternal grandfather has died. In the char, however, the manager still asks the person to be on a call for clients.
‘Changed my roles, assigned work beyond scope’
Sharing the post, the user said he has been working in the “stupid agency” for the past two years. During this time, he alleged, the agency changed his roles and made him work on things that were beyond scope.
“I’ve been working at this stupid agency for the past two years. They’ve changed my roles, assigned me work beyond scope and piled on work after firing multiple people because of ‘tight funds’,” the Redditor said.
“But I never complained. I genuinely enjoyed my work and my team,” he added. However, commenting on the chat, he called it “ridiculous”.
“How is it my problem that you have no one else to take care of my work? do managers forget that we’re people and not just machines churning out results? I’m not even going to bother replying to them anymore,” he said.
What was in the chat?
In the WhatsApp chat, the user sends a message to his manager that his maternal grandfather has died and so he won’t be coming to the office.
“Morning sir, my nana passed away last night, won’t be able to come to the office today,” the message read.
In reply, the manager first said, “So sorry to hear that.” However, what came later shocked the employee. The manager wrote, “Take the day off. But we are onboarding a couple of clients today, so can you stay on the induction call?”
“Be active on WhatsApp as well and pitch in with the designers whenever needed?” he added. When no reply came, the manager wrote, “?? Are you there”
In the comments, the users supported the employee and even suggested that he must “block” them all for a day.
