Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko is making headlines as a potential big-money signing for Manchester United this summer. With multiple reports suggesting that the Red Devils are closing in on a deal, the 22-year-old is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about names in the transfer window.

Who is Benjamin Sesko?

Benjamin Sesko, born on May 31, 2003, currently plays for RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga and represents the Slovenia national team. Standing tall at 1.95 meters, Sesko combines pace, technical ability, and a strong physical presence.

A product of Slovenian football, he began his youth career at Radece before moving on to Krsko, where he famously netted 59 goals in just 23 matches at the U15 level. After a brief stint with Domzale, his talent was quickly snapped up by Red Bull Salzburg in 2019. A successful loan spell at Salzburg’s feeder club FC Liefering saw him score 21 goals in 29 games during the 2020–21 season. He returned to Salzburg’s first team and helped the club secure multiple domestic titles.

In August 2022, Sesko signed a deal to join RB Leipzig, officially moving in July 2023 for around €24 million. His debut season in the Bundesliga was a strong one, with 14 goals in the league and 18 across all competitions, including a record-breaking run as the youngest player to score in seven consecutive Bundesliga matches. He made his senior international debut in June 2021 at just 18 and quickly became Slovenia’s youngest-ever goal scorer. Since then, he has grown into a key figure for the national team.

Is Manchester United his next destination?

Top-tier sources like David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano, and Sky Germany claim that Sesko and Manchester United have reached a personal terms agreement. But now that United has to bargain with RB Leipzig over the transfer fee, the so-called “United tax” is likely to make things more difficult.

According to reports, Sesko is holding out for a move to Old Trafford, even though Newcastle United’s $98 million offer was accepted. According to reports, he is eager to work on the project under prospective new manager Ruben Amorim, who views him as a key player in United’s redesigned offensive.

Sesko is considered the last member of the attacking trio that the Red Devils have already added this summer, along with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. United seems prepared to make a big move for him whose versatility allows him to play both centrally and on the left.
