MUM vs JK Ranji Trophy match: Jammu and Kashmir skipper Paras Dogra, who formerly played for Himachal Pradesh, pulled off a one-handed stunner to dismiss Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane on Day 2 (Friday) of their Ranji Trophy match at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.

The 40-year-old Dogra showcased his agility in the field, diving to his left to take a brilliant catch, sending Rahane back to the pavilion during the second session on Friday. Fielding at mid-on, Dogra reacted swiftly as Rahane chipped a fuller delivery from tall fast bowler Umar Nazir Mir in the 27th over. Despite the ball heading towards a seemingly vacant area in the covers, Dogra executed a full-length dive, snatching the ball with one hand.

The right-hand batter originally hails from Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, and has a long first-class cricket career. He has played 140 first-class games so far and has scored 9719 runs with an impressive average of 48.59. He has also played the IPL for Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma displayed glimpses of his renowned batting prowess, pulling Umar Nazir for a trademark six and lofting Auqib Nabi and Yudhvir Singh for a couple of more effortless hits over the ropes. However, a half-century in his Ranji comeback eluded the Indian captain, who was dismissed for 28 on Friday.

Playing his first domestic red-ball game for Mumbai in nearly a decade, Rohit’s initial outing on Day 1 was far from ideal, as he was dismissed for just 3 off 19 balls in the opening hour of the match.

On Day 2, however, Rohit put on a far more composed display, scoring a fluent 28, his best in first-class cricket since a 52 in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand last year.

It’s been a tough spell for Rohit, who has registered scores of 0, 8, 18, 11, 3, 6, 3, and 9 in his recent outings against New Zealand and Australia.
