T20 World Cup 2024, IND vs PAK Live Score: Was it lack judgement? Failure to read the pitch, plain arrogance or all rolled in one? India’s pathetic performance in the high-octane match against Pakistan in New York at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is nothing short of an absolute disaster. First, there were multiple delays due to recurring rains, then came the twist in the tale – Pakistani pacers. Before the third rain-related disruption, Rohit Sharma had smashed a beautiful six and as soon as the play resumed, we saw Kohli’s stylish boundary.
That was the last time Men in Blue were in the play. Kohli’s breakthrough wicket threw India’s powerhouse batting line up out of the window. From there on, Sharma, Patel, SKY, Jadeja, Pandya just couldn’t stay on that notorious drop-in pitch. Only Rishabh Pant (41 off 31) did give a fightback. No single Indian batter was able to score a fifty. The carnage continued in the death overs as well with Pandya being dismissed for just 7 runs. India have been restricted to 119 all out in 19 overs.
IND vs PAK Live Score, T20 WC 2024: Pakistan’s chase
The Men in Green started off on a steady note with skipper Babar Azam and Md Rizwan opening for Pakistan. Chasing down a target of 120, Pakistan looked every bit comfortable with Indian bowlers struggling. India got the breakthrough wicket of Babar Azam courtesy Jasprit Bumrah. While they didn’t deter their chase but fall of wickets at regular interval did hamper their momentum. Pandya was expensive-yet-effective. Three Pakistani players were dismissed on the score of 13 runs – Babar Azam, Usman Khan and Fakhar Zaman.
Towards the end, Jasprit Bumrah changed the game in the 19th over and Arshdeep Singh made sure to keep the good work going as he successfully defended 18 runs. Pakistan needed 12 runs off 2 balls. It was nerve wracking for both sides. But the boundary on the second last ball sealed the deal and India won the match by 6 runs.

"We would have chosen to bowl first as well. We need to evaluate the conditions and determine what a good score would be. Previous games have helped us understand the conditions here. We've discussed our strategy as a batting unit to set a competitive total and trust our bowling unit to defend it. Every game is crucial in a World Cup; you can't take anything for granted. We're sticking with the same XI," Rohit Sharma said.
"We will bowl first due to the weather and moisture on the pitch. The conditions are in our favor, as we have four fast bowlers, and we'll try to make the most of it. The past is behind us; we are focused on today's match. We are prepared and will give our 100%. It's always a big game, and our confidence is always high for India vs Pakistan.
