IPL 2024 Latest News: It’s official! Ending all speculations, the management of Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday announced the appointment of Pat Cummins as the new captain of the team for 17th season of the Indian Premier League. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), SRH posted a poster of Cummins with ‘captain’ written in bold letters.

‘Our new skipper Pat Cummins,’ reads the post with an orange heart emoji. However, the sacking of Aiden Markram didn’t go down very well with some fans. Commenting on the post, many say that its was tough decision and that Markram deserved better.

Before the SRH skipper stint, Cummins was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad. Ahead of the official announcement, there was lot of buzz around Cummins’ appointment. He was a favourite as the SRH owners had spent big bucks (Rs 20.50 crore) to buy this Australian talent.
