DC vs SRH Match Today: An absolute carnage! A proper hammering! Total annihilation! Call it whatever you want. Today’s Sunrisers Hyderabad opening against Delhi Capitals in match 35 of Tata IPL 2024 is what dreams are made of. Batting first after DC won the toss and chose to field first, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma batted like there was no tomorrow. Hitting a huge six on the very first ball of the innings, Travis Head was particularly dangerous tonight. Together, the SRH duo scripted a new IPL history as they scored 125/0 at the end of the powerplay. This is the highest powerplay total that any IPL match has ever seen.
At one point, even a score of 300 was looking completely plausible. In fact, with a run rate of 22+, the projected score of SRH at one point was 348! Apart from the highest powerplay score, SRH openers also created history of fastest team 100 in the history of IPL at Qila Kotla tonight.
SRH have become the only team to equal their record of the most number of sixes in a match. In the last game vs RCB, SRH batters had smashed 22 maximums. Tonight, they repeated the feat with an aplomb. Travis Head made 89 off 32 balls. He smashed 11 4s and six maximums. Apart from him, Abhishek Sharma made 46 runs. But soon, the visitors lost the momentum as they lost as many as four wickets in quick intervals. But Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed engineered the turnaround to get over the middle overs slump. While Reddy made 37 runs, Ahmed slammed 59 off 29 balls. At the end, SRH posted 266/7, which is the highest IPL total at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Capitals courageous chase
When the target is 267 runs, a lot depends on the openers. But the Delhi Capitals were not in luck tonight. DC openers – Prithvi Shaw and David Warner – were dismissed quickly. It was only the partnership between Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel that brought Delhi back in the game. But that fightback didn’t last very long. Mayank Markande got him for 65. But not before Fraser-McGurk added a record to his name – the fastest fifty for Delhi Capitals. After the departure of this duo, all eyes were on DC Skipper Rishabh Pant. However, disciplined bowling by SRH kept DC on the edge. T Natarajan got his IPL best performance. He picked up 4 wickets and conceded just 19 runs. In the end, SRH kept up the pressure and DC batting crumbled, and the visitors registered a 67-run win at Qila Kotla.

Though he has a terrific record, it is still uncertain whether he will play tonight or not.
At present, Sunrisers Hyderabad are on number 4 with four victories out of six matches. If they win this match against Delhi Capitals tonight, it will put them straight at number 2 in the points table. With the stunning batting performances, SRH are currently season favourites.
There was a time when the pitches of Arun Jaitley Stadium were known to be slow ones. Most of the matches played here were low scoring that favoured bowlers. But during ICC World Cup 2023, this pitch was curated and transformed into a more battery-friendly venue. Does that mean we will see another record-breaking innings tonight?
