IPL 2023 Live, Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals Score Updates: They have done it! Rajasthan Royals have finally ended the winning streak of Gujarat Titans against them. RR led by Sanju Samson have avenged the IPL finale defeat as they thrashed Gujarat Titans by three wickets on their home ground on Sunday. Shimron Hetmyer and RR skipper were the guiding forces in the Sunday thriller. Hetmyer smashed 56 off 26 balls.
Head-to-head analysis showed that GT had beaten RR in all three matches in previous encounters and it looked like the trend would continue tonight as well. Rajasthan Royals were struggling from the word go. Gujarat Titans looked pretty much in control of the IPL match 23. Md Shami’s superb bowling stifled the Royals right from ball one. His final tally read 3/25. The powerplay ended with Royals managing just 26 runs on the board. Records show that this was the lowest powerplay score by any team in this season of the Indian Premier League. They lost their openers – Jaiswal and Buttler very early. Hardik Pandya took one wicket. Rashid Khan scalped two wickets. Impact sub Noor Ahmad made a big impact as he sent RR skipper Sanju Samson packing. The 50-run partnership between Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer kept Royals alive but Noor ended that partnership thanks to a brilliant catch by David Miller.
But Hetmyer changed the game and brought Royals back in the match. With this win, Rajasthan Royals maintain their top position on the IPL points table. GT remain on number 3.
Earlier in the evening, RR won the toss and decided to field first. It wasn’t exactly a fiery start for the Titans. They made just 42 runs during the powerplay. This was the lowest powerplay score for GT in this season. This was also the first time that the Titans didn’t cross half-century mark during the powerplay phase of the match.

Match Ended ( Day – Match 23 )
Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets
Trent Boult took the breakthrough wicket of Wriddhiman Saha in the very first over. Soon Sai Sudharshan departed. Skipper Pandya and Shubhman Gill had a key third-wicket partnership. Pandya completed 3,000 IPL runs during the innings. Gill, who fell 5 runs shot of a half-century, reached another landmark. He completed 2,000 IPL runs tonight. Abhinav Manohar and David Miller kept the runs coming for Titans. But towards the end, the momentum slowed down. Else, till the time Miller was playing, a target of 200 looked a reality very much.
Here are the key moments of GT vs RR match
It looked so one-sided at one moment that it felt that it was a matter of just few overs and Gujarat Titans will win the match and maintain the winning streak against RR. But today was not that day. It was the day of Hetmyer! If Sanju Samson played the captain knocks, Hetmyer kept Royals ticking in the game. And suddenly, RR were back in game and Hetmyer finished it off in style with this superb SIX! RR won match 23 by 3 wickets!
Last two overs are being bowled. 1.3 crore are watching the GT vs RR match, shows Jio livestreaming stats. And just when it looked that Royals have turned it around, Dhruv Jurel walks back to dugout! It's Md Shami again! Just comes down to one man - Hetmyer! With Ravichandran Ashwin joining him now, can these two take Royals home?
It's a huge moment for Noor Ahmad. Coming in as impact sub for Shubhman Gill, Noor took his first IPL wicket when he got Sanju Samson. That's what we call making an impact! Samson slammed 60 off 32 deliveries that included three 4s and six 6s. Major setback for Royals. Can they make a comeback now?
Royals made 26/2 during the powerplay, which is the lowest score that this season of IPL has seen so far during the first 6 overs of a match.
At one point, Rashid Khan's figures read 6/2! he is that good! An absolute wicket-taking machine. Last time the visitors won the match was GT vs KKR and it was the stunning turnaround by Rinku Singh. Royals desperately need something like this!
It was meant to be a thriller but right now it looks completely a one-sided affair. Devdutt Paddikal did smash some shots but he didn't stay long. What could have been a much-needed partnership between him and skipper Samson, the tie-up ended thanks to excellent bowling attack by Rashid Khan. Required run rate has gone past 12 and Royals are somewhere over 5.
Hardik Pandya got rid of Jaiswal and Md Shami sent Jos Buttler packing. Clean bowled! The fact that GT is bowling superbly can be gauged from the fact that first boundary of the second innings came in 4th over. Yes, at present, Royals are under pressure. With Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal at crease, Royals would hope for some momentum in the chase.
In case you are joining us now, here's a recap. RR have already lost one of their openers - Yashasvi Jaiswal to brilliant bowling by Hardik Pandya. This came after a very tight over by Md Shami that yielded just 1 run. GT is keeping the pressure on!
Some really cool bowling by Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson reposed his faith in Sandeep Sharma in death overs. He stopped David Miller in track. This really helped RR to stifle GT. Else, it could have been a total of 200 on the scoreboard.
What would be the challenging score for RR? Till Miller was playing, 200 was a possibility. But after his departure, GT loses another wicket in Rahul Tewatia. Can Rashid Khan slam two sixes or will Sandeep Sharma restrict GT to sub 180 score?
With Miller and Tewatia playing, anything is possible. In the second last over, Zampa got Abhinav Manohar
GT's Vijay Shankar is sitting out today. Abhinav Manohar has replaced him. and he is playing at the moment along with David Miller. Gt still has Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan to bat next.
Sandeep Sharma takes the big wicket of Shubhman Gill. At the strike rate of 132.25, Gill hammered 45 off 34 balls. His innings included fours 4s and one 6. Gill also completed 3,000 IPL runs today. Gone just five runs short of a half-century, Gill's departure means all burden is now on David Miller to keep the momentum going.
Yuzi strikes and Pandya departs! That superb catch by Yashasvi Jaiswal ended the innings of GT skipper. Now 'Killer' Miller is batting along with Gill. With current run rate, GT can put up a score of 166 on the board.
Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya achieved a new milestone today as he completed 2,000 IPL runs. Pandya is 22 off 15 at the moment and looks very settled. 200+ target for RR? The current run rate wi well over 8 and it looks a possibility very much.
Samson decided to introduce Adam Zampa during power play and he didn't disappoint. Zampa sent back Sudharshan after RR took the review and the original decision was overruled. GT Skipper Hardik Pandya is batting right now.
If Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya plays well today, unlike the last match and gets some runs, he would complete 2,000 IPL runs. At present he is 16 runs short of the landmark.
You have to see t to believe it. The way Trent Boult got Wriddhiman Saha, absolutely funniest thing we have een in recent times! Sai Sudharshan is batting along with Shubhman Gill.
Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (capt), Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma
Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (capt,wk), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Adam Zampa, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has won the toss and has opted to bowl first. Average first innings score in Ahmedabad is 169.
If Sanju Samson slams a half-century today, he would become the first RR player to reach the milestone of 3,000 IPL runs.
Well begun is half done they say. This holds true for IPL matches also. teams have lots and won matches thanks to the right head start during the first 6 overs of the match. The batting lineup of both teams go really deep. For Royals, they have the spinners to rely on. With likes of Chahal, Zampa and Ashwin, Royals can really put brakes to any strong batting lineup.
Gujarat Titans that made its debut last year has faced Rajasthan Royals for three times. And much to the agony of Sanju Samson, GT has defeated RR all three times. Will RR rise above the past and change the game today?
