In a moment that could rival any IPL thriller, a Punjab Kings jersey became the centre of an off-field brawl; courtesy of co-owner and actress Preity Zinta. It all started innocently enough. Zinta filmed the crowd’s excitement as she prepared to toss a Kings jersey into the stands. But what was meant to be a cheerful gesture quickly spiraled into what one X user called a “kalesh”.
The second the jersey left her hand, so did any sense of decorum. Fans lunged, tumbled and even dropped to their knees in a desperate bid to claim the prized jersey. A police officer eventually had to step in, but not before one fan nearly landed a punch on another.
“Ek tshirt ke liye horha hai ghamasaan. Rs 100 ki tshirt ke liye ladd rahe hain. EK doosra ka murder karne ke liye taiyar hain,” the man recording the video said.

Social media had a field day. The video, which now boasts over a million views, drew both laughter and dismay. Comments ranged from “Unemployment at peak” to “They beat him up for a T-shirt worth Rs 100—now how much will his treatment cost?”
“They bought tickets worth 5-6k, but they are fighting over the jersey like it’s a wedding lehenga,” said one of them. “To be fair I too would want a t-shirt from Preity Zinta and fight for it. But my rationality to not look like a mad man can stop me,” quipped another.
