Veteran England seamer James Anderson became the first pacer and the third bowler overall to claim 700 Test wickets in the 5th Test match against India in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.

Adding yet another illustrious chapter to his remarkable career, Anderson’s historic milestone was achieved when he dismissed Kuldeep Yadav on day three. The wicket came as Anderson skillfully lured the Indian tail-ender into a drive, resulting in an outside edge, which went straight to Ben Foakes.

It is important to note that Anderson is aged 41 and he reached this milestone in his 187th Test match. He ended the Day 2 of the Test match with 699 wickets when he dismissed Shubman Gill

The elite bowler’s club

Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralidaran holds the record for the most Test wickets with 800, followed by the late Shane Warne with 708. Indian spinner Anil Kumble ranks fourth in the all-time list with 619 wickets in 132 Tests.
